COACHING STAFF PROMOTION

Calgary Hitmen Executive Vice President, Alternate Governor and General Manager Kelly Kisio announced today the promotion of assistant coach Brent Kisio to associate coach.

“Brent has been heavily involved in many aspects of player and game preparations for several seasons and is deserving of this acknowledgement,” said Kelly Kisio.

Brent, now in this sixth season with the Hitmen, joined the Western Hockey League club in August 2007 as Video Coach and Assistant Coach after four successful years at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he played for the Mavericks (NCAA) and graduated with a degree in Criminology.  Following the 2007-08 campaign, Brent moved exclusively into the role of assistant coach.

During the 2009-10 season, Brent, alongside head coach Mike Williamson and assistant coach Joel Otto, helped guide Calgary to their second WHL championship title following a league-leading 107-point regular season that included 52 wins.

“Brent has been a very valuable part of our coaching staff and team for some time,” commented Williamson. “He has continually taken on greater responsibility and this recognition is well deserved.”

Brent resides in Calgary with his wife, Abby, and their two children, Summer and Owen.
