"Our team has been about working hard and competing and setting the bar for other teams to get to for the second half of year. You have to give Lethbridge credit. They came in and skated, they worked, they won a lot of battles and were rewarded for it," said Head Coach, Mike Williamson.
Victor Rask and Trevor Cheek scored for Calgary while Jaimen Yakubowski, Russell Maxwell, Graham Hood, Sam Mckechnie and Jamal Watson each netted one for the visitors. The Hitmen outshot the Hurricanes 39-30 in the loss.
Brandon Glover replaced Chris Driedger in the middle frame. Driedger made 12 saves for Calgary while Glover stopped 13-of-14 shots.
Calgary remains fourth in the Eastern Conference with 87 points, trailing third place Medicine Hat by two points while leading fifth place Regina by five.
“You want to have a roll going into playoffs and feeling confident. It’s a step back tonight, but tomorrow we’re going to travel into Kootenay, refocus and should be ready to go for the weekend," added Brady Brassart.
The Hitmen wrap up the regular season with a home-and-home series against the Kootenay Ice starting Friday, March 16 in Cranbrook and concluding Saturday, March 17 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. for the Fan Appreciation Game. Radio broadcast on Sportsnet 960 The FAN begins at 7:00 p.m.
