HITMEN HEADLINES: The Calgary Hitmen (8-3-1-2) wrap up three games in three nights as they host the Kelowna Rockets (7-6-1-1) in the Hitmen Fight Cancer game presented by Delta West Academy this afternoon at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Last night Rebels defenceman Brady Gaudet scored in the seventh round of the shootout lifting Red Deer to a 4-3 win over Calgary at the Enmax Centrium. Zane Jones, Cody Sylvester and Jake Virtanen scored for the Hitmen as Calgary outshot Red Deer 44-36 in the loss, including 17-6 in the middle frame. Calgary is now tied with Edmonton for second in the Eastern Conference at 19 points.
VS. KELOWNA: Tonight is the first of two games between the Hitmen and Rockets. Last season Calgary was 3-0-0-0 against Kelowna, including a 2-1 win in the lone match-up at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Alex Gogolev (2g, 3a) was the Hitmen’s top scorer in the season series against the Rockets with five points, while Madison Bowey (1g, 1a) was the leader for Kelowna. The two teams meet again on Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Jan. 1/12 in KEL Hitmen 2 Rockets 0 Chris Driedger made 27 saves to record his first career shutout.
Feb. 17/12 in KEL Hitmen 7 Rockets 1 Alex Gogolev had a goal and two assists while Danny Gayle scored twice.
Feb. 26/12 in CAL Hitmen 2 Rockets 1 Victor Rask tallied the game winning goal while Brandon Glover made 26 saves.

BLAST FROM THE PAST: Tonight’s game is a rematch of the 2009 WHL Final which saw the Rockets win the Ed Chynowth Cup in six games over the Hitmen. After going down 3-0 in the series, Calgary won the next two contests before falling 3-2 in overtime to Kelowna. Since Tyson Barrie tallied the game winner at 8:13 of overtime in Game 6, the Hitmen have a record of 5-2-1-0 against the Rockets, including 2-1-1-0 mark at home. Notable players involved in that series for Calgary include Brandon Kozun, Alex Plante, Paul Postma, Michael Stone, Martin Jones as well as current captain Cody Sylvester. Playing for Kelowna that year was Tyler Myers, Jamie Benn, and Calgary Flames forward Mikael Backlund.
PINK POWER: Since launching the Hitmen Fight Cancer campaign in January 2010, Calgary holds a record of 2-1 for their annual cancer awareness games. In three years, the Calgary Hitmen with the support of their partners, staff, players and fans, have raised over $58,500 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Prairies/NWT Region.

Oct. 29/11 in CAL Hitmen 3 Silvertips 1 S. Humphries notched two assists while T. Cheek scored the game winner shorthanded.
ROSTER ADDITION: Brendan Hurley, a native of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, has been added to the roster for the weekend. Last season, the 19-year-old forward recorded nine points (five goals, four assists) along with 62 penalty minutes over 49 games played with Kootenay and Medicine Hat. Now at 26 players, Calgary’s roster includes 16 forwards, eight defencemen and two goaltenders.
TEAM WHL: Forward Brady Brassart has been named to Team WHL for the 2012 SUBWAY® Super Series. The 19-year-old forward is tied for second in team scoring with 15 points (six goals, nine assists). Team WHL will face Team Russia in games five and six of the series played Wednesday, November 14 in Vancouver, B.C., and on Thursday, November 15 in Victoria, B.C. The first two games of the series are hosted by the QMJHL with the OHL hosting games three and four.
STREAKIN’: Cody Sylvester has six points (5g, 1a) in three straight games, while Alex Roach has six assists over the same span. Greg Chase has four assists in his last three contests.

UPCOMING GAMES: Calgary will now head out on a three-game East Division road swing from Nov. 2-4, starting Friday night in Regina, followed by stops in Brandon and Moose Jaw. The Hitmen return to the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday, Nov. 7 to host the Moose Jaw Warriors, with a 7 p.m. puck drop.
