Sponsored by Co-op and Citytv, fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Calgary Food Bank. Co-op has donated 10,000 boxes of macaroni in support of the cause and upon arrival, fans will receive a box of macaroni to use to “shake up the ‘Dome” creating atmosphere and support for the Battle of Alberta.
“We are privileged and honoured to have TELUS partner with us on this initiative in support the Food Bank,” said Hitmen Director of Business Operations Mike Moore. “During the holiday season and throughout the year there is an increasing demand for food hampers and we are pleased to provide a lending hand with the support of Co-op, Citytv and Hitmen fans.”
“TELUS is a proud and long-time supporter of both the Calgary Hitmen and the Calgary Food Bank,” said Monty Carter, senior vice-president, TELUS Enterprise Solutions and vice-chair of the TELUS Calgary Community Board. “The TELUS Shake up the ‘Dome game enables us to combine our support of hockey with our unyielding commitment to community. We are happy to give where we live, and help those who need it the most during this holiday season.”
The Calgary Food Bank can turn just $1 into $4 worth of food. Donation boxes will also be present during Saturday’s game in an effort to raise additional funds for the Food Bank.
